RUTGERS UNIVERSITY STUDENT ID CARD
The official photo identification card of Rutgers University is the mechanism for accessing the cardholder's account(s) or privileges. Access to University facilities or cardholder's account(s) may be denied if your account has been suspended by the University for violating the terms and conditions of use or invalid University status. If you deactivate your Rutgers University ID card, or if the card's magnetic strip is damaged the card will not scan.
The Rutgers University ID card is the property of Rutgers University and is non-transferable. Only the cardholder may present the Rutgers University ID card for purchases and other privileges. Rutgers University cards will be confiscated if presented by someone other than the cardholder or if the card is involved in inappropriate or illegal use. Fraudulent use of the card will result in disciplinary action or penalties. The Rutgers University ID card may be obtained at the IMPACT Booth, Camden Campus Center on the Camden Campus and the RU Express Board Plan Office on the New Brunswick Campus. A government photo ID, such as a driver's license or passport, must be presented upon issuance of the ID card. Replacement cards will be issued for a $20.00 fee.
RU EXPRESS POLICIES
RU Express is the student debit program on both the Rutgers Camden and New Brunswick campuses. RU Express is a cash-free alternative that will allow students to use their University ID cards like a debit card. RU Express is accepted at many on-campus locations and as well as many off-campus locations. Deposits may be added to a student's RU Express account anytime throughout the semester. DEPOSITS Students can add money to their RU Express account anytime throughout the semester via credit card (either MasterCard or Visa) online at Rutgers University RU Express. Log in with your NetID and password, and select "Make a Deposit". Payment will also be accepted at any University Cashier's Office when paying with check or cash. A minimum deposit of $10.00 is required.
Funds deposited to the account must be expended by performing sales transactions. Cash withdrawals may not be made from the account. RU Express funds may not be utilized for any term bill charges.
TWO WEEK CHANGE PERIOD Initial deposits for any semester may be reduced or cancelled during the two week change period as long as the new funds have not been used.
CLOSING ACCOUNTS A cardholder may request a refund of remaining RU Express balances of $25.00 or more by completing a RU Express refund request form. The refund request form is located at
Rutgers University RU Express "RU Express" section. Written request forms must be submitted to the Financial Services/Bursar's Office, Artis Building, 329 Cooper Street, Camden Campus and the RU Express Board Plan Office, Records Hall Rm 102, College Avenue Campus on the New Brunswick Campus . Proof of withdrawal or dismissal is required. Only balances equal to $25.00 or more will be refunded. Student Accounting Services will determine if a student is entitled to a refund check based on their financial obligations to the University. Refunds will not be automatically issued at the end of the Spring semester.
INACTIVE ACCOUNTS RU Express accounts showing no cardholder activity after 18 months will be closed and funds residing in the account will be forfeited.
LOST/STOLEN CARDS Report lost/stolen cards immediately to the IMPACT Booth in the Camden Campus Center on the Camden Campus and the RU Express Board Plan Office on the New Brunswick Campus.. Suspend the card immediately at
Rutgers University RU Express to avoid unauthorized use of your account. Log in with your NetID and password and select "Lost/Stolen Card" to suspend your card. The University's liability limit for unauthorized use on lost/stolen cards is $50.00.
