FREQUENTLY USED ACCOUNTS

1Card Cash
The 1Card-Cash account is a general-purpose taxable debit plan. Students can make purchases all over campus as well as some designated off campus locations, paying for everything from food to laundry. Every student, faculty, and staff member receives this account with a zero balance. Funds can be deposited at the deposit terminal located in the ATM room of the Siegel Center or online through the 1Card Web site. There are no fees associated with using the 1Card-Cash account. 1Card-Cash is carried over from year to year as long as the account holder is associated with SLC. 1Card-Cash balances will only be refunded to the studentís account, which is done automatically upon graduation or withdrawal from the College; refunds outside this time period are not permitted.

GryphonPrint
Every student receives this account with a balance of $25 at the beginning of the fall semester, then an additional $25 is added at the beginning of the Spring semester. This amount is enough to Print or Copy 625 duplexed Black and White pages per semester. All student balances on this account are forfeited on Graduation day in May. This account is available for use at any print/copy location.

Meal Money
This account is a non-taxable plan associated with meal plan 3 ($275), plan 4 ($150), and plan 5 ($375). This account is valid at all AVI Dining locations. Any unused funds are forfeited at the end of each semester.

Meal Plans & Equivalency Rates

Meal plans begin every Monday at breakfast and run through Sunday dinner. Meal plans are reset for Breakfast on Monday. Meal Plans 1 and 2 are based on meals per week/equivalency. Plans 3, 4 and 5 have Meal-Money in addition to meals per week/equivalency. Each meal, breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner are assigned a equivalency rate (these are announced over the summer and are available upon arrival in the fall). If the student chooses to eat a meal in the Siegel Center, Bates2Go or the Atrium Cafe, the equivalency rates are applicable to all purchases. If such selection in these a la carte facilities exceeds the preset values, the student must pay the difference in cash, Meal-money, or 1Card-cash, but does not receive a refund if the selection totals less than the equivalency rate. All resident students must be on a meal plan for the entire year. First-year students must be on meal plan 1, 2, or 3 for the entire year.

Meal Plan 1
This is the complete meal plan. It includes every meal offered: breakfast, lunch and dinner weekdays, and brunch and dinner on weekends. Provided the student expects to eat breakfast during the week, this is the best value. This plan is priced assuming that no student eats every possible meal.

Meal Plan 2
This plan offers the student lunch and dinner weekdays and brunch and dinner on the weekends. This plan is one of the minimum plans required for resident first year students. This plan is also priced assuming that no student eats every possible meal.

Meal Plan 3
This plan offers the student any 10 meals a week. Only in Bates Common Dining can multiple meals (for friends/family) be used at once, all other dining locations are restricted to use 1 equivalency per meal period. In addition this plan includes 275 units of Meal-money per semester. Like the other plans you can use this plan in any of the four eating locations. Resident first year students are allowed to select this plan. In the past, a majority of our students have chosen to select this plan.

Meal Plan 4
This plan allows the student to eat any seven (7) meals during the week. Only in Bates Common Dining can multiple meals (for friends/family) be used at once, all other dining locations are restricted to use 1 equivalency per meal period. In addition, this plan includes 150 units of Meal-money per semester that can be used in any of the four eating locations. This plan offers great flexibility and is priced assuming that there will not be any missed meals.

Meal Plan 5
This plan is primarily a Meal-money plan with brunch on either Saturday or Sunday. The plan has 375 units of Meal-money in addition to any one meal per week in Bates Common Dining. This plan is designed for upperclassmen that live in housing with a full kitchen who want to cook for themselves throughout the year.

All meal plans are honored at the four eating locations on campus.
