Wiscard Terms and Conditions

  1. This agreement is executed between the individual or cardholder (participant) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (University).
  2. The University photo ID serves as the participant's Wiscard. The card must be presented at the time of purchase and shall be the only means of accessing the participant's account.
  3. Participant must deposit funds into their account before any purchases or services will be provided.
  4. Funds deposited in an account are only redeemable through the purchase of goods and services.
  5. Participant may be held liable for any deposits made by check. If payment is not approved by the bank because of an invalid account number or insufficient funds, the transaction may be submitted up to two (2) additional times, if necessary, to collect payment. The University may remove these funds from the participant's Wiscard Account if payment cannot be collected. If funds in the Wiscard Account have already been depleted, the University may place a 'hold' on the student record until any outstanding payment has been paid in full. Additional penalties, including a $20 returned check fee, may also apply. Your financial institution may also assess fees for denied transactions.
  6. Participant is responsible for all purchases made and any negative account balance they may incur.
  7. All accounts are non-transferable.
  8. Participating units, hours of operation, and pricing are subject to change.
  9. Lost or stolen cards must be immediately reported to the Wiscard Office, Housing residence hall desk, or the participant may inactivate their card via the Wiscard web site.
  10. The participant will be held liable for any loss incurred prior to proper notification.
  11. Food purchases made by enrolled students at University restaurants and delis are exempt from sales tax.
  12. Additional discounts may be provided based on enrollment status or place of residence. Please contact specific location/s for details or exclusions.
  13. A Wiscard Account will remain open until a Close Account and Refund Form or a request in writing is submitted to the Wiscard Office. All account cancellations are subject to a $10 administrative closing fee. No refund will be issued unless the account balance is greater than $5 after the administrative fee has been deducted. A University check will be mailed to the participant within 2-3 weeks after receipt of request.
  14. The University reserves the right to close any account that has been inactive for a period of 12 months. Refunds will be available upon request for an additional 12 months.
  15. All inquiries regarding the Wiscard Account should be directed to the Wiscard Office at Union South.
  16. Participant's use of their Wiscard provides consent to all terms and conditions.
