Q: Why canít I punch a hole in my GWorld card?
A: The GWorld card uses technology that includes an antenna throughout the card. Hole punches will damage the antenna and cause the card to cease functioning immediately. Hole punched cards will incur a $25 replacement fee.

Q: Why do GWorld cards have expiration dates?
A: Expiration dates are a new security feature that will assist GWPD and other departments in validating a cardholderís status with the University.

Q: Will I have to pay a renewal fee when my card expires?
A: No. You will receive a new card free of charge if you are still a member of the GW community. Just stop by the GWorld Office the month prior to your cardís expiration, turn it in and get your new card.

Q: What is "Colonial Cash"?
A: Colonial Cash is a declining balance, flexible and individualized spending program featuring both dining and retail options available on campus and in the city. This program provides purchasing power for a number of University services such as the GW Bookstore, campus laundry, vending, and copy and mail services, as well as a host of neighborhood dining options and services such as dry-cleaners, pharmacies, convenience stores and other retail establishments.

Q: How do I add funds to my GWorld card?
A: Click "Make a Deposit" to deposit funds via VISA/MasterCard online. You can also visit the GWorld office during business hours to make a deposit by check, cash, or money order. Or you can visit one of our value transfer stations located throughout the Foggy Bottom Campus (listed in the next item below).

Q: Where can I add cash to my GWorld card?
A: You can add cash in our office during business hours or at one of our seven value transfer stations, or VTS machines. These are located at:
Marvin Center - Ground floor near Colonial Central and the GWorld office
Gelman Library- 1st floor computer lab and 3rd floor near turnstile
Himmelfarb Medical Library - Near the 1st floor stairs
Burns Law Library - 1st floor behind information desk and 2nd floor near elevator
Duques Hall - Inside the 22nd street side Parking entrance

Q: Do you accept American Express?
A: Unfortunately we do not accept American Express. Only VISA and Mastercard are accepted.

Q: How do I sign up for access to my account?
A: You must register for online access to view your account. Click the "I'm new here" link in the upper right-hand corner of the GWorld website to register for your account. You will need your GWid number and your email address. Upon submitting the form you will be sent your password.

Q: How do I obtain a GWid?
A: Visit http://gwid.gwu.edu/ to retrieve your GWid or click here. Also, you can visit the GWorld office for assistance.

Q: Automatic Deposits: Why does my account not immediately add money when I drop below my minimum balance?
A: Our online card office calculates low-balances once per day. If your account falls below the minimum, you can expect an automatic deposit to be credited to your account within 24 hours.
